PENTAGON SEPTEMBER 11 competition
Unlike many recent memorial designs, this entry sought to exert a proud and pronounced vertical presence within a restrained classical lexicon.
The tower was designed to sit upon four columns aligned with the four cardinal directions, suggesting the eventual scope of the War on Terrror. The tower would be clad in a variety of stones, each representing the home states of those killed in the attack. The tower is open to the sky and posseses a relfecting well, allowing for the quiet connection of the sky and earth.
The memorial was designed to reside next the attacked portion of the Pentagon.
